Penn Ave Arts in Motion collides with the Pittsburgh Art Car Festival to bring Garfield

a day of free art and community fun.

Residents team up to bring visitors to Penn Ave to celebrate art, community, and Art

Cars! The line up includes Music and Dance Performances, Live Art Battles, Art

Vendors, Aerial Silk Dancers, Side Show, Improv Opera, Fire Performers, & a Mobile

Masterpiece Round Up are just some of the days planned activities. The Penn Ave Arts in

Motion Festival is scheduled for September 27, 2014 -12PM TO 8PM, 5022 Penn Ave,

PGH PA 15224 (Corner of Penn Ave & Winebiddle)

This is the 3rd

including what has become the largest gathering of street legal art cars in Pittsburgh.

Jason Sauer, Co-owner of Most Wanted Fine Art organizes the event, which is located

on Penn Ave. The event bloomed out of Jason Sauer’s love of the southern tradition

of Art Cars. Art Cars are a decorated road ready vehicles which is popular in southern

states especially Texas, where inspection laws allow for things to be glued to the surface

of cars. Since 1995 Sauer has painted a car & wrecked it in the Demolition Derby.

Afterwards the wreck is presented as art & taken on tour. The “most wanted” themed art

builds with travel as it’s decorated with mug shots of people encountered.

To help promote Penn Avenue during the construction and to ensure the inclusivity of the

festival, Sauer has teamed up with fellow 40 under 40 winner D.S Kinsel who is the ‪co

founder/operator of BOOM Concepts. BOOM Concepts is the newest art space on Penn

Ave and is a community organization created for the expansion of activity for artists,

musicians, and entrepreneurs who have common interest. Together they have combined

the Pittsburgh Art Car event with the Penn Ave Arts in Motion Festival, which had its

inaugural launch in June of 2013. “The Penn Ave Arts in Motion festival is the natural

next step in the growth of the corridor. This festival will help solidify Penn Ave arts

district as a true destination where artists can share with audiences and community”, said

D.S Kinsel.

Due to construction the team has secured the K-2 convenience store’s parking lot as over

flow parking for festival visitors. K-2 is located at 4900 Penn Ave. The Turner Dairy T-
Bird will be in the K-2 lot handing out free beverages from Noon-2pm

It’s completely free for vendors and vehicles (cars, motorcycles, or bicycles) to be part of

the outdoor community event. Get out there and get involved! To reserve a spot or more
