Fedd The God Takes Fourth at Demo Derby!
Pittsburgh, PA — September 3, 2024 — Pittsburgh native and rising rap star Fedd The God traded his microphone for a demolition derby car this past Labor Day weekend, competing as part of the BOOM Concepts x Most Wanted Fine Art (MWFA) Black Demolition Derby Team. On Saturday, August 31, 2024, Fedd wowed the crowd at The Great Stoneboro Fair, placing 4th in a heated competition during the Most Wanted Fine Art Stock Class event, hosted by Hardcore Demolition Derby Promotions.
With so many competitors, the event had to be split into multiple heats, underscoring the massive turnout and excitement surrounding the derby. Fedd’s entry into the world of demolition derbies marks an exciting chapter in his career, as he steps out from the Northview Heights streets and into a new arena, quite literally crashing his way into fans’ hearts. As one of the few Black competitors in this predominantly white sport, Fedd’s involvement emphasizes diversity, breaking down barriers and bringing a new energy to the derby circuit.
The MWFA Stock Class, sponsored by Pittsburgh’s iconic Kelly O’s Diner, was created by Jason Sauer, a celebrated artist and demolition derby enthusiast, who aims to democratize the sport. The initiative provides access to individuals who might not typically participate in such events, particularly in underserved communities. By making the rules more inclusive—allowing any car from 1980 or later—the MWFA Stock Class has grown into a nationwide movement, with events scheduled across the country. Sauer envisions the program expanding into major metropolitan cities, bringing demolition derbies to urban areas that rarely get to experience this thrilling sport.

Growing up in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights, Fedd transformed his life through music, ultimately signing to Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang in 2020. This groundbreaking initiative provides a platform for Ty McClelland, a talented black derby driver, while also integrating elements of the Activist Print project to bridge the gap between urban art and the world of demolition derbies. BOOM Concepts is excited to partner with Most Wanted Fine Art through our Activist Print temporary public art program to make a unique public art activation. The BOOM Concepts team took a new approach to the public space for this special project. By recognizing that artistic excellence comes in many forms and disciplines, the BOOM Derby Car project engages a visual artist, a mechanic, and a derby driver to present a fully actualized project that exists authentically within the parameters of Derby Car Culture. The activism and advocacy of this project are presented not only through the aesthetics of a Black Artist designing the car but also by having Blackness and black identities represented across the critical roles within the team – driver and mechanic. In a field where non-white drivers are seldom seen, the BOOM Derby Car has been able to make history by engaging a Black core team that delivers traditional derby excitement to any race they enter!
