More about the Project:

Most Wanted Fine Art (MWFA), in collaboration with the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC), is launching a Scattered Site Sculpture Project in Garfield. This program centers around strategically placing sculptures within Garfieldโ€™s 30-acre Greenzone, which includes farms, gardens, parks, and undeveloped land to bridge the Penn Ave Arts & commercial district with the community, promoting interconnectedness and cultural engagement. Integrating art from Penn Avenue, a hub of the 25-year arts initiative, with the emerging Greenzone program, encourages exploration and connection. Visitors stroll through the scenic Greenzone, transitioning from art to nature, emphasizing the link between art, community, and environmental stewardship.

In July 2024, Jason Sauer was announced as a recipient of the Duolingo Community Arts Program grant, enabling him to launch the initiative with this first vibrant sculpture. The first piece, made from smashed demolition derby cars, was installed with the help of BGCโ€™s Greenzone Learn & Earn Students, part of a program that provides meaningful employment for low-income youth (ages 14-21) in Garfield and surrounding neighborhoods.

The project aims to engage local children in environmentally-themed sculpting workshops, adding their creations to the Scattered Site Sculpture Program. Stay tuned as we continue this journey to inspire environmental stewardship and lasting community change!
