Nina Gibbs is a community builder and development leader with more than two decades of experience advancing equity and inclusion through arts-based programming, public engagement, and grassroots collaboration. Starting at the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC) in 2018 as the Community Engagement and Fundraising Specialist, Nina quickly became a driving force in strengthening the organization’s capacity to serve Garfield and the surrounding East End neighborhoods. In that role, she oversaw major fundraising initiatives, secured long-term partnerships through the Neighborhood Partnership Program, and built relationships with residents, businesses, and artists to foster inclusive economic growth. Her leadership helped expand donor engagement, revitalize community events like the Aggie Brose Awards Luncheon, and increase investment in the Penn Avenue Arts District.
Now serving as the Director of Development, Nina continues to advance BGC’s mission by leading comprehensive fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic initiatives that support neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing, youth employment, and workforce development across Pittsburgh’s East End. Her work centers on building sustainable partnerships and empowering communities through collaboration, creativity, and equitable opportunity.
Before joining the BGC, Nina co-led Most Wanted Fine Art (MWFA), a nationally recognized gallery and community hub that merged art, workforce training, and social impact. Under her leadership, MWFA hosted hundreds of exhibitions, created the Resident Artist Program, and provided pathways for artists and justice-involved individuals to develop professional and creative skills.
Nina’s ability to connect with people across backgrounds has made her a trusted bridge-builder in Pittsburgh’s diverse communities. Her work has been recognized with numerous honors, including Pittsburgh Magazine’s “40 Under 40”, the Power of Work Award from Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and the Community Development Award from the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group.
A frequent speaker on community-based development, Nina has presented at institutions such as Chatham University, WQED Filmmakers Corner, the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, and PCRG’s Community Development Summit. She studied video production at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and continues to bring storytelling and creativity into every aspect of her leadership. Nina also serves as a City Commissioner on Pittsburgh’s Equal Opportunity Review Commission and is a frequent speaker on inclusive leadership and community-based development.
At her core, Nina believes in the transformative power of art and collaboration to strengthen communities, amplify underrepresented voices, and build a more equitable future.
