South Hills Memorial Day Parade
For the third consecutive year, the Most Wanted Car Club proudly rolled through the streets of the South Hills as part of the historic South Hills Memorial Day Parade in partnership with Dormont Arts, continuing a growing tradition that blends community creativity with remembrance and civic pride. Since 1934, the communities of Brookline, Dormont, and Mt. Lebanon, later joined by Beechview, have united annually to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.
This year’s collaboration between the Most Wanted Car Club and Dormont Arts brought a playful and artistic energy to the procession through the “Puppy” theme to highlight the band on the MWCC float which was “Bucket of Puppies”. Leading up to the parade, Dormont Arts even hosted a community “Puppy Parade Workshop,” inviting residents to create and march alongside their own umbrella puppy creations. (Dormont Arts)
For club members, participating in the Memorial Day Parade is about more than showing off creatively painted vehicles, it is about showing up for community traditions that connect generations. The parade continues to serve as a reminder that remembrance and celebration can exist side by side: honoring those who served while bringing neighbors together through art, volunteerism, and shared experiences.
As the Most Wanted Car Club and Dormont Arts marked their third year participating together, the collaboration once again demonstrated how public art and community partnerships can help keep longstanding traditions vibrant for future generations.
